I loved the ending! I thought it was a little slow and weird at times in the middle though

The Darker family haven’t all been together in quite some time, but it is Nana’s 80th birthday and she wants everyone there at the family house, which is located on a small island and is cut off from the rest of the world for eight hours when the tide comes in。 With a nod to Agatha Christie’s hit thriller And Then There Were None, the Darker family is being killed off methodically and secrets are being revealed at every turn。 I absolutely loved listening to this as an audiobook。 The narrator did The Darker family haven’t all been together in quite some time, but it is Nana’s 80th birthday and she wants everyone there at the family house, which is located on a small island and is cut off from the rest of the world for eight hours when the tide comes in。 With a nod to Agatha Christie’s hit thriller And Then There Were None, the Darker family is being killed off methodically and secrets are being revealed at every turn。 I absolutely loved listening to this as an audiobook。 The narrator did a brilliant job keeping the story eerie and and suspenseful。 I thank Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for the opportunity to listen to and review this audiobook。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I figured out the big “twist” by page 19。 And the secondary twist by about page 60。 Not really into supernatural stories, so wouldn’t highly recommend。

Entertaining read, assumed there would be a twist and didn't bite on any of the red herrings。 Still was surprised by the ending - enjoyable, quick read。 Entertaining read, assumed there would be a twist and didn't bite on any of the red herrings。 Still was surprised by the ending - enjoyable, quick read。 。。。more

I got back and forth between 3 and 4。 Feeney makes no attempt to disguise that she’s pulling from And Then There Were None, and that’s refreshing。 There’s a great pace of events, that even the flashbacks don’t disrupt。 I was hooked。 I suspected a few of the twists but something always happened to make me change my mind。 Clever writing。

Kate

This was a fun locked room beach read overall, but I guessed the “twist” by like page 12 and there were far too many platitudes about family in every single paragraph。

This one had so many twists and turns!!! I never figured things out until the grand reveal

I love a good Agatha Christie like storyline! This book made me late for work and consider calling in sick to finish。 Hooked me from the beginning and I truly did not guess this ending。 So good!

Thanks for giving me an advanced copy to exchange honest reviesws。 The book has a very interesting plot。 I would recommend it especially if you like both thriller and ghost stories。 I give it only 4 stars simply because myself likes the thriller in reality world。 I was a bit disappointed when I found out ghost is involved in the story line。 Otherwise, it is a very good story。

Interesting to watch the story unfold。 Had some good tension and made me check the locks while reading。

BrilliantI purchased a signed hardback copy of this book after seeing it recommended in a national newspaper, it’s turned out to be one of my best buys。A great story told over the time it takes the tide to go out from the family island home。Full of twists and turns I thoroughly enjoyed the story from first to last page。

Truly awful。 I could see the plot twists from the start and if I had know it was going to end the way it does - I wouldn’t have even started the book。 I am so disappointed as I have enjoyed other books by this author … but this just didn’t cut it。I won’t spoil it for people as obviously some people have and will love this book。 But suffice to say it takes a little too much inspiration from And Then There Were None for me, and doesn’t live up to Agatha’s masterpiece in any way。

A perfect spooky fall book about a dysfunctional family trapped at their old cliff side house on Halloween。 In very Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None fashion, family members start being picked off one by one。 I love a good mystery with red herrings, twists and dark family secrets。 The creepy poems that unfold along the way are another favorite mystery trope of mine, so I really enjoyed this suspenseful read!

Also! It was WAY overwritten。 Every single thought Daisy had was followed by some sort of pseudo-proverb。 Including something about people knowing more about their phones than their bodies which felt odd in a book where it was 2004 and one character had a cell。 Like so many lines could've just bee cut。 It was like it was musing philosophical, which takes away from a thriller when it's overdone。 。。。more
